Out of the Box — Zeno Imaging Is Acquired by Visual Edge Technology, Inc.

North Canton, Ohio – For over 20 years, Zeno Imaging has listened to their customers and helped them increase efficiencies, reduce costs, and think “outside of the box” so they can see their business in a completely different light.

Now, Zeno is looking to do the same for itself — by thinking “outside of the box” and seeing the benefits of joining the Visual Edge Technology family of office and IT solutions companies.

A product of multiple acquisitions over the past decade, Zeno is one of Texas’ leading providers of office equipment, document management, workflow solutions, cloud solutions, centralized production print services, and managed print and IT solutions.

The partnership looks to expand the Visual Edge network across Texas and marks the second company that Zeno’s owner, Tom Frederick, has brought to Visual Edge. In February this year, Frederick was instrumental in forging the Visual Edge agreement with Zymphony Technology Solutions, a managed IT services company in Tampa, FL.  “I wanted a strategic partner that shared my vision, values, and passion for my employees and customer service. I am proud to join the Visual Edge family and gain operational support from a national network of successful dealers who have done the same,” comments Frederick.

Jake Guarino president of Zeno for the last four years , along with the company’s existing management team, will remain and continue to lead Zeno’s daily operations.  Frederick will stay on as a consultant to Visual Edge after the acquisition is finalized.

Visual Edge Technology, Inc. Appoints Senior Vice President of Human Resources

North Canton, Ohio – Visual Edge Technology, Inc., announces another addition to the company’s growing executive leadership team as Melissa Morrison joins the company as the senior vice president of human resources.

Based out of Visual Edge’s North Canton headquarters, Morrison will provide strategic HR leadership, supporting the company’s national network of office and managed IT solutions companies.   

“Visual Edge has grown 500% over the past three years,” says Michael Mills, vice president of administration and chief financial officer for Visual Edge Technology, Inc. “Our focus now is to build an infrastructure with a team of executives, like Morrison, with proven expertise supporting large corporations.

Morrison recently worked in a number of HR management roles, with an emphasis on benefits administration and payroll.  Prior to joining Visual Edge, Morrison spent 19-years at Myers Industries, Inc., a holding company for plastics manufacturing and distribution companies.  She was a key player in several of Myers’ mergers and  acquisitions, assisting in due diligence and process standardization.

“I am energized to be joining such a strong, growing company,” says Morrison. “Throughout my career, I have always tried to be the kind of leader that steers the focus away from why we can’t do things to figuring out a way that we can—achieving the priorities that will move the company forward.”

Morrison holds a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Mount Union and has earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification.  She is currently completing certification as a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS). She is also an alumna of the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership in Greensboro, NC.

Morrison resides in Massillon, Ohio with her husband and enjoys camping, hiking and golfing. In her spare time, Morrison is actively involved in the community and recently finished a term as president of the board of trustees for the Domestic Violence Project, Inc., in Canton.

A long-time resident of Ohio, Bingle has over 25 years of experience managing the finances of multibillion-dollar, global companies and looks to enhance Visual Edge’s treasury operations in support of its strategy to grow its national network of office and IT solutions companies.

“We wanted someone who has run multiple finance functions in larger corporations, and John is a senior-level executive with just the experience that we were looking for,” added Mills.

Bingle brings a wealth of experience across the financial spectrum and most recently served as the treasurer of Ferro Corporation, a leading global supplier of technology-based performance materials for manufacturers. Prior to his 14-year tenure at Ferro, Bingle held positions of increasing responsibility in finance, treasury and investor relations with Steris Corporation, Invacare Corporation and the Goodrich Corporation, formerly the B.F. Goodrich Company.

“I relish the opportunity to learn a whole new industry with Visual Edge,” says Bingle. “I have always worked for companies where policies and procedures were inherited.  Now, I will collaborate with a team of executives directly responsible for developing policies and initiatives vital for the long-term growth that Visual Edge envisions.”

Visual Edge Technology, Inc. Acquires Mercury Document Imaging Co., Inc.

North Canton, Ohio – Like his customers, the president of Mercury Document Imaging Co., Inc., Joel Volk, cares most about the end result. So much so that he has a bird feeder and bird bath outside of his office window to remind him of that daily.

“I don’t care about the feeder, the bath, or the seeds. I just want the birds,” says Volk. “The same goes for our customers. They don’t want machines. They don’t want software. They just want their operations to work effortlessly, and they want to grow without having to add resources.”

Wanting the same prosperity for his company, Volk has joined the likes of other independent dealerships nationwide with the recent sale of Mercury Document Imaging to Visual Edge Technology, Inc.  The deal marks the 31st acquisition for Visual Edge.

With three locations in Southern California and one in Chicago, Mercury Document Imaging is a total office automation provider of multifunctional equipment, document management software, managed print, and shredding solutions.

Volk says that when he started looking at acquisition companies to partner with, he found Visual Edge to be a community of talented and successful business leaders all working together in the industry that he loves.

“My goal is for all of us to grow together as we learn new and better ways to make it easy for our clients,” added Volk.

A self-proclaimed family man, Volk got into the business 33 years ago while working as a temp at his father’s typewriter repair company.  Since then, he has never looked back. Volk will continue leading Mercury as president and general manager while receiving advisory support from Visual Edge. The sales and service operations for Mercury’s customers and employees will also remain the same.

A Merger of the Minds in Massachusetts—Visual Edge Acquires KenMark Office Systems, Inc.

North Canton, Ohio – Exxon and Mobil. Sirius and XM. While it’s not often that two leading competitors agree to join forces, amicable mergers do happen and it is happening in Mashpee, Massachusetts. Visual Edge Technology, Inc. has forged an agreement to acquire KenMark Office Systems and merge it with its core New England company, Axion Business Technologies.

KenMark was established in 1983 by Ken Pedicini and Mark Brainson who had previously worked together for Savin Corporation handling the State of Massachusetts’ photocopier contract. Their business philosophy is to treat all customers as friends and to provide products and service that surpass their customers’ expectations.  KenMark has been a Savin dealership for over 30 years and has been awarded as a Savin Elite Dealer for the past 5 years.

The deal unites the two companies as Axion/KenMark, a true, total business solutions, supply and technology powerhouse serving the Greater Boston, Greater Worcester, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Southern Massachusetts marketplaces, along with Cape Cod and the Islands. Axion will be relocating its Cape Cod office as the two companies combine operations at KenMark’s Mashpee headquarters.

“KenMark is one of Axion’s biggest competitors in Southeastern Massachusetts. We both have super reputations, long-time customers, and long-tenured employees; they’re the perfect compliment,” says Axion’s president, Robert Ferland. Further complementing the merger, KenMark represents the manufacturers of Konica Minolta and Savin/Ricoh, as does Axion, making service and support continuity seamless.

“I have traveled the world working in this industry but Cape Cod is still my slice of paradise. Moving forward, Axion/KenMark will operate under Ferland’s leadership with Pedicini assuming the role of vice president of sales for the newly combined sales teams.

It’s a great thing to have two competitors remain local in the Massachusetts/Cape Cod community and continue to do business like they have for the past 35 years,” says Ferland. “Like I told my employees, the great part about acquisitions is that you can constantly expand your own customer base through products and services that you didn’t have before,” he added.

For the first time both companies will be able to offer their respective customers products and services that they had previously not been able to offer, such as office furniture, managed network and IT services, production print, and expanded managed print services.

Visual Edge Technology, Inc. and Technocom Partner for Continued Success in North Carolina

North Canton, Ohio – Visual Edge Technology, Inc. has acquired Technocom of North Carolina in a move that expands Visual Edge’s footprint in the Southeast and enhances Technocom’s already well-established passion for delivering best-in-class solutions and support.

The company’s founder and president, Jim Riggins, who took a chance on entrepreneurship when he was just 26 years old, will continue leading the company under the executive guidance of Visual Edge.

“Visual Edge has a very strong technology team, and I am excited about them taking us to the next level, especially in the managed network services side of our business,” says Riggins.

With two sons in the 32-year-old business, Riggins admits that when he first considered the agreement, he was looking to secure his family name.

“There’s a great advantage to partnering with such a large company,” says Riggins. “Better value for our customers, greater job opportunities; that kind of leverage will only enhance the success we have already had.”

Together with Visual Edge, Technocom will look to deliver the same outstanding service and support it has since its inception, while expanding upon its existing managed IT services.

Riggins plans to be very much involved in the day-to-day operations of Technocom, often with his four- legged, top-performing sales reps,  Starsky and Hutch. The two black labs make regular appearances with him on sales calls. The dogs, which Riggins admits he did not want at first, are a constant reminder about the importance of loyalty and are even featured on the sides of the company’s vehicles.

“They’re extremely loyal. And because they’re so loyal it kind of got into my skin and I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if people were this loyal?’” says Riggins, “That’s why we always try for a win-win-win – customer-employee-company scenario – at Technocom.”

A Solution to Carry on a Legacy …. Visual Edge Technology Acquires Dunn’s Business Solutions

North Canton, Ohio – Visual Edge Technology has acquired its 30th office equipment company, Dunn’s Business Solutions—a 40-years-young, independent, and female-owned office equipment, furniture, and supply company in Gaylord, Michigan.

When Dunn’s Office Supply & Machines first opened in 1978, their product line was a little different than today, with cash registers and typewriters. Forty years later, Dunn’s Business Solutions has evolved—providing northern Michigan businesses with state-of-the-art multifunctional equipment, office furniture and supplies, and workflow solutions.

“We are a company rooted in our community. Customer satisfaction is and has always been most important to us,” says Dunn’s president, Theresa McNamara, who has led the company for the last 28 years. When McNamara decided it was time to start planning for retirement, she turned to Visual Edge Technology.

Like Dunn’s, Brady’s is also an authorized Kyocera reseller, but it will bring the added bonus of expertise in managed print services, document management, and managed IT solutions to Dunn’s customer base.

Visual Edge Acquires Business Technology Partners of Orlando

North Canton, Ohio – Visual Edge Technology’s footprint is growing again in Florida, this time in a strategic move to carry on the legacy of 25-year-old Business Technology Partners (BTP). Visual Edge Technology Acquires N2N Technologies of Indianapolis

North Canton, Ohio – As the demand for cutting-edge IT services continues to grow, Visual Edge Technology is bringing another core managed IT services provider into its Netwise Resources brand in the Midwest, with the recent acquisition of N2N Technologies of Indianapolis.

The agreement, which will transition operations of N2N’s two locations, including 18 employees, over to Netwise Resources, is the second acquisition of a core IT provider this year. Earlier this year, Zymphony Technology Solutions of Florida was acquired by Visual Edge.

A national leader in the engineering and K-12 education IT spaces, N2N has been a full-service IT provider of information and business technology solutions since 2008. N2N is known for its state-of-the-art private cloud hosting platform, a high point of the deal, that will now provide Visual Edge clients with a private cloud hosting option.

“N2N has had considerable growth in the past five years, and we’ve been approached by many companies about a merger,” says N2N co-founder and chief operating officer, Todd Eaton. “After many conversations with Netwise and Visual Edge, we found that our companies are very similar in management styles and how we work with our customers. It’s a really good fit.”

Visual Edge Technology Acquires Office Systems of Vermont and New Hampshire

North Canton, Ohio – Visual Edge Technology is giving Office Systems of Vermont the “best of both worlds” with its latest acquisition: financial support from a national company, but with the ability to maintain their roots in New England and grow the business together with Axion Business Technologies.

As part of the deal, Office Systems will remain an independent operating company with advisory support from Visual Edge-owned Axion Business Technologies and its president, Robert Ferland.

“This really completes our overall strategy to have a footprint in all of the New England states. The potential for growth here is huge,” says Ferland. “We also get the added bonus of Office Systems’ market share in New Hampshire. One of the benefits for Office Systems’ customers is that we will bring new services to market that they would not have otherwise had access to, such as production print, managed print, and managed IT services.”

Office Systems’ president, Richard Lowrey, says that the decision to join Visual Edge was easy, as Office Systems marks the second dealership that he has sold, both while being under the age of 52. “Being locally owned isn’t as important as it used to be. In a world where people can buy just about anything online, people are technology driven to get the best products with the best deal but still be taken care of,” says Lowrey.

As one of the last independents in Vermont, Lowrey’s “secret sauce” is simple: people, products, and process.  “We run our business on the 3 Ps – you have to have really good people, really good products, and really good processes internally. If you don’t do any of those three things, well, you aren’t going to be great.”

Being great is important to Lowrey, as he filters most of his business decisions through his customers, constantly surveying their loyalty to the Office Systems brand with the Net Promoter Score methodology. “A lot of people in this industry focus on service metrics—how fast can you be there, how fast can you fix it. We don’t. We believe that the measure of our success is whether or not a customer is going to refer us to someone else,” says Lowrey.

According to Lowrey, Office Systems scores around 75, which is pretty admirable for an independent dealership in the small state of Vermont (Apple has 72).

Lowrey admits he did a lot of research on Visual Edge before taking the leap. “What I really like about Visual Edge is that they let you run your own business and nothing really changes except that you get better products, better pricing, and better support,” says Lowrey. “I’ve looked for three years to buy an IT company because I get calls constantly about customers wanting IT support from us. I think this is going to be a huge growth area for us.”

Office Systems, which has had deep roots in Vermont since first opening in 1945, has been owned and operated by Lowrey since 2011. Prior to that, the dealership was the product of a merger between two competitors as the market consolidated in 2000.
